Canihua

Chenopodium pallidicaule

cañahua, cañihua or kañiwa, is a species similar in composition to quinoa. It is native to the Andean region with more than 200 varieties and has been cultivated in the Andean Altiplano, especially in Peru and Bolivia, for millennia. Among its specific characteristics is the special tolerance to specific high mountain conditions.

This seed is a marvel because it has a high content of proteins, dietary fiber, carbohydrates, phenolic and a type of amino acid that is lysine, which does not have wheat or barley, and that serves to strengthen the immune system in both children and in adults.

Production period from March to July, origin Puno, Cuzco and Huancavelica at more than 3,000 to 4,000 m.a.s.l of the Andes of Peru.
