Chia seed contains many nutrients such as: proteins, calcium, boron (mineral that helps fix calcium in the bones), potassium, iron, fatty acids such as omega 3, antioxidants and also trace elements such as magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc and vitamins such as niacin among others.

The seed contains around 40% carbohydrates; of these, 30% is insoluble fiber, 3% is soluble fiber, and the rest are essential starches. Compared to other foods, it has two times more protein than any seed, five times more calcium than whole milk, two times the amount of potassium in bananas, three times more antioxidants than blueberries, three times more iron than spinach and seven times more omega 3 than salmon.
